Trees create a pinhole-camera effect, generating little solar-disc ghosts into their shadows. Summer evenings are filled with these reassuring projections of the earth’s source of life. Sometimes the patterns remind me of what I see when underwater, looking up at the surface of the Hawaiian sea.
