On my trip to Naples I was struck by the macho culture, which is supported by a conservative Catholic church. Men seem to have more free time than the women, who, after a brief period of parading their sexiness, face the hard work and limiting scope of motherhood. The football cult, with its bizarre male rituals and costumes exacerbates the divide. Christianity has a maudlin and gory tendency here. The title of this piece comes from an advert on the fridge at this outdoor restaurant in the historic centre of town.
