On Christmas Day, my friend Nancy took me to the Dolphin Club in San Francisco. I am fascinated at the ability of people to be able to withstand the terrible cold of our San Francisco Bay. I appreciate the love of nature and all, but I am dumbstruck. Anyway, the club itself is a cozy and friendly place, and though I admired the fortitude of the stalwart swimmer, I could better relate to the pleasures of an afternoon spent dozing in their sunny library. They also use, build and maintain beautiful, old-style “Whitehall” rowboats.
