Limantour, one of the big beaches of Point Reyes, changes every time there is a storm. Each time I return, I find new sand formations—dunes and inlets, as well as footprints left by the many animals protected by this National Seashore Park. I didn’t see the fox there, but at the rescue organisation in Lafayette, the Lindsay Wildlife Experience, where a small and very nervous grey fox was recovering. I felt so bad for the little animal, trapped in his (albeit generously proportioned) cage, that I liberated him (her?) in this painting.
